E.F.Caldwell Ormolu Chandelier.
Early 1900’s French Styled, 6 light Chandelier. Attributed to E.F.Caldwell.
Attributed, as little of their work was signed. The bulk of it was custom made, so we rely on clues.
The older picture in the gallery is from a Smithsonian catalogue between 1902/04 and shows that the central shaft is identical.
Caldwell Lights were sold as Art in their time; built with no expense spared, complex castings and design and the best finishes available.
This fixture is of great quality, boasts lovely foliage motifs, and the central shaft is inspired by hanging fabric drapes. All finished in a stunning Ormolu gold.
It has been cleaned, re-wired, re-lacquered and fitted with crystal beaded bulb covers.
