BRENDA PUTNAM ‘Infant at the Birdbath’ Bronze
Ca. 1914 Bronze sculpture depicting an infant at a birdbath by award winning artist Brenda Putnam, signed and dated 1914. Born in Minneapolis on June 3rd, 1890, Miss Putnam began to exhibit in 1910. This piece is from a series of children as fountain and sundial figures. “Water Lily Baby” won honorable mention at The Art Institute of Chicago in 1917 and “Sea Horse Sundial” the Barnett Prize at the National Academy of Design, and the Widener Gold Medal at The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1922/1923.
