“BEARDSLEE” Monumental Lobby Fixture


Ca.1905 A monumental light fixture by “Beardslee” of Chicago. This impressive pendant fixture features a bowl made up of six bent caramel slag panes, dressed with acanthus leaf and floral castings. All original finish and parts, rewired with six sockets on interior.

From: South Carolina State House, Columbia, South Carolina. Building finished in 1903, yet took another 10 years to finish interior. According to Sweet’s Architectural Catalogue, Beardslee supplied 500 custom made lights of different design. The building was upgraded and restored 1995 – 98.
