We love our area so much, in fact the entire Mount Pleasant neighbourhood really contributes to our identity here at RENEW. The residents, businesses, and patrons of this neighbourhood are all so excited about this community – and you can just feel it.
We are so lucky to be in an area that caters to so much design, excellent food, and great coffee. Not to mention our proximity to downtown, and dog-friendly green space.
Here are just a few places in our neighborhood that you may find us when we’re not at the gallery.
Louisa Cohen – Marketing Director “I love the coffee at Gene on 7th and Main – I also really just enjoy that pie-shaped building. It’s really great having the community center nearby – so family friendly. After work you can definitely find me at Jonathan Rogers Park… my dog loves the grass – and I still can’t get over the view of downtown”.
Jamie Pryde – Gallery Director “I eat my lunch at Terra Breads on 5th everyday – I can’t help it… its so good. On weekends I’ll come to the area to have drinks at Cascade, or Charlie’s Little Italian…”
David Valk – Renaissance Man “I love this area’s proximity to Gastown – and that its really just an artery to anywhere in the city you’d want to go. As far as Mount Pleasant, Farina Pizza has arguably the best pie in the city… Do you think I can get free pizza from this shout out?”
Robert McNutt – Light Restoration Expert “I’ve lived in this area for 19 years… I really don’t like how this area has changed (my favorite places burnt down) but I guess I can give a shout out to my favorite restaurant Sushi Yama, our beloved Hell’s Gate Mall… and don’t forget the FOX Theatre – which is set to close this month”.
Eric & Judith Cohen – Owners “We love the wonton soup at TOKO on 7th… its the best treat on one of those Vancouver rainy days. Of course, we also love our new space here on 5th, RENEW Gallery.”
Yes – this area is definitely one of much change, but we live it, and love it… just the way it is.
If you’re one of our neighbors we haven’t met yet, or just in the area – stop by and say hello.
Oh, Let’s not forget Marshall, the schnoodle – Gallery Dog “Of course I love the parks, the smells and the sights… but I am really getting used to the showroom here at RENEW Gallery – you can find me on the blue mohair settee in the client lounge, listening to Parisian radio… this really is the life”.
